Tim is off to Camp

We're back from our round trip to Camp Knutson near Cross Lake Minnesota (Brainerd area). Tim went up there after pitching and playing 2nd base for the Hornets am game. (Coach told him he'd done an "A job" and was the fourth best pitcher on a team of 13-16 yos. Gotta give the kid some credit.)

Tim will be there through Thursday. He wanted to travel up with his entire posse - including Kateva of course. The drive was easy, nothing like the trips of six years ago. It kind of blows my mind how easy.

Ben and Brinna ran after Tim, carrying his camp gear and helping him move in. I grabbed a shot of them with Tim's counsellor, Scott. Click for full sized picture.

Yeah, you gotta wonder. I really doubt Scott is any genetic relative of Tim's, but it is a bit uncanny. Turns out Scott played baseball "competitively", so Tim will be getting some personal baseball coaching in addition to fishing, archery, canoeing and horseback riding.

Ben is doing rabbit ears behind Tim's head. He always does that.

Tim gave me a great hug good-bye. Brinna was missing him in the parking lot. Ben said he wanted to go to the same camp next year, and stay in the same cabin as Tim (bad idea, but nice sentiment).

Father's Day without Tim won't be the same, good thing he gave me his FD card last week. We're all missing him. With Tim away we realize how quiet we are.

He did a four day camp last year and did pretty well. This year he was only a bit nervous before leaving. He needs this time away.
